Maldives here I come

Today is hectic. I left for Maldives early morning. Before you jump to conclusions and think that it’s a holiday……..NO……its work. Next two days are packed with meetings, site visits and readings. I am visiting to pick a suitable island to build a hotel for an Arab client who thinks feng shui is the answer to all the world economic problems J I am looking forward to island hopping while sipping on coconut water.

But I have taken my jogging shoes and exercise wear. I promised Vaishali that there would be no excuses.

So here I am in Maldives, waiting for the next flight to take me to the island.
20 seater small planes fly to different islands all over Maldives. A small waiting lounge cramps all arriving passengers until their respective seaplane flights takes off. They are very strict about amount of baggage you can bring on board due to the size issue.

So There I was standing in a queue to check in for my flight and the guy at the counter told me, “pls stand on the baggage weighing scale, we need your weight!!!” I almost died. Never in my 20 years of flying I have come across any idiot asking me that. As I looked around, all baggage belts had passengers hopping up to check their weight. Apparently, it’s a new regulation put in place to ensure that these small planes are not overloaded. And so I obliged, hoping that the poor chap wont faint looking at how much I weighed J

This is karma. The one thing (my weight) that I don’t want to see, the universe is ensuring that I see it everywhere – even if it means climbing on made in China worn out baggage belt in Maldives !!!
